Biography
Adrian Chew is currently in his first year as a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) student in Piano at George Mason University, where he is studying under the mentorship of Dr. Anna Balakerskaia. Prior to his doctoral studies, he completed his Master of Music in Piano Pedagogy at Wichita State University (WSU) under the guidance of Dr. Andrew Trechak. Adrian also holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from WSU, where he was mentored by Dr. Julie Bees. His education in Piano Pedagogy has been enriched by the expertise of Dr. Meg Gray and Dr. Justine Sasanfar.
Adrian has had masterclasses with pianists like the legendary Leon Fleisher, Joyce Yang, Stewart Goodyear, Albert Tiu, Gabriela Martinez, DingYuan Zhang, Dzmitry Ulasiuk, Stephanie Leon Shames, Jeffrey Siegel, and Brian Ganz
Aside from solo piano, Adrian is an active collaborative pianist and has collaborated with numerous vocalists and instrumentalists.
Adrian is an exceptional educator with six years of experience teaching piano privately. He currently holds the position of Graduate Teaching Assistant within the piano and theory department at George Mason University. From 2020 to 2022, he also served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the piano department at Wichita State.
Adrian’s unwavering passion for sharing the beauty of classical music is evident in his dedication to teaching. His ultimate goal is to nurture his students, enabling them to reach their full artistic potential.
